The death toll has reached 12. The aircraft is ATR 72 modelOn the night of July 23 last year, flight GE222 of TransAsia smashed into residential buildings after a failed emergency landing in the outlying island county of Penghu, killing 48 people. It was also an ATR 72 model airplane.The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner built by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR. It can take more than 70 people on board. It serves around 180 airline companies in over 90 countries and regions.TransAsia Airways, founded in 1951, is Taiwans first private airline, mainly focusing on the islands market and short trip overseas flights.
